Traditional portraits

Traditional portrait photography is all about capturing the emotion and expression of the model. This classic style of portraiture involves the model looking directly at the camera. It is often taken against a simple studio setting.

Candits

In candid portrait & street photography, the subject appears (and sometimes is) unaware that they are being photographed. Candid photographs are unplanned and do not involve any posing. It can give powerful insight into a subject's real emotions.

Editorial

Editorial photography is a type of photography that aims to tell a story or portray a concept. Editorial photography is commonly found in magazines, newspapers, editorial features, and journalism. Editorial photography relies much more on story than it does on a brand.

Lifestyle

Lifestyle portrait photography captures people going about their everyday lives. This style is often used in advertisements by brands that want to inspire their customers to live the portrayed lifestyle. Lifestyle photography can be seen as an editorial style.

Homestories

A home story is typically a mixture of lifestyle and candit elements and sometimes contains some boudoir or glamour shots (see also "Lifestyle Boudoir"), depending on the storyline. To frame the story, the session is usually set on-location, that could be anything from a hotel room to the home of the subject.

Boudoir

The French word “boudoir” refers to a woman's bedroom or private dressing room. These photo shoots feature a woman wearing some form of lingerie in an intimate setting, whether it's their very own bedroom or else a studio that is set up to look like a bedroom or dressing room.

Lifestyle Boudoir

Unlike traditional boudoir, Lifestyle Boudoir emphasizes natural and candid moments, often featuring the subject in their own environment, such as a bedroom or a cozy living space.
The focus is on storytelling and showcasing the subject's personality, interests, and body positivity, creating images that celebrate sensuality within the context of everyday life.

Glamour

The Glamour style focuses on portraying individuals in an aesthetically pleasing and attractive light. The aim is to emphasize beauty, elegance, and style without explicitly aiming for sexual allure.
Marilyn Monroe was featured in the first issue of Playboy magazine (1953) to receive mainstream attention for glamour photography.

Semi/implied nude

Fine art nude photography, either semi/implied or full nude, is a genre of fine-art photography which depicts the human body with an emphasis on form, composition, emotional content, and other aesthetic qualities.
Nude photography celebrates self-expression and challenges societal norms while emphasizing respect and tastefulness.

Fine-art

Fine-art photography is photography created in line with the photographer's vision as an artist, using photography as a medium for creative expression. The goal of fine-art photography is to express an idea, a message, or an emotion. Fine-art photography is typically based on portrait, boudoir, glamour or artistic nude themes. Composings and intense editing are very common in fine-art photography to support the artists vision

The distinct boundaries between spicy shoots, boudoir, glamour, erotic, (semi-) nude photography, and pornography.

"Spicy" typically refers to attire that is provocative, bold, or daring. It is a variant, a style, that can be applied to almost every genre, and is typically safe for posting on social networks. Spicy could mean clothing that is revealing, edgy, or unconventional in some way, often designed to capture attention, and evoke a sense of allure or excitement.

While boudoir and glamour photography can be categorized as forms of lingerie fashion or pin-up photography (in which the subject wears underwear or clothing), erotic photography is distinguished from nude photography.

Nude photography may depict subjects without clothing but not necessarily in an erotic context. In contrast, erotic photography explores the sensual and sexual aspects of the subject matter.

It is important to note that pornographic photography is distinct from both nude and erotic photography. Pornographic photography typically depicts explicit sexual content and is generally considered "obscene" and mostly lacking artistic or aesthetic value.
